Origin and Evolution
The origin of the first Girolando does not extend much over time. The first news of the emergence of these animals date from the 1940s.
By the desires of Brazilian breeders began to look at the intersection of Gir with the Dutch combination of hardiness and productivity, which are indispensable to milk production on pasture in a tropical climate.
The multiplication of these animals, even haphazardly, was accelerated (by high productivity and reproductive efficiency).
Today we find the Girolando in all Brazilian states.
Making sure that, in 1989 the Ministry of Agriculture, along with the Representative Associations were drawn to the standards of training Girolando - Tropical Dairy Cattle (5 / 8 Hol + 3 / 8 Gyr Bi Mestizo), turning it into a national priority.
And the Brazilian Association of Breeders Girolando, established in the pioneering city of Uberaba, Minas Gerais, for their physical and administrative structure, and the serious and effective work during the ten years of Procruza program, which preceded the Girolando was dignified to command and implement rules for formation of Bovine Girolando race.
